Requip XL and Breastfeeding

Although no studies have been done to see if Requip XL (ropinirole XL) passes through breast milk in women, it is expected that the drug would pass through breast milk based on its chemical structure. It is known that Requip XL can lower prolactin levels in humans, which could affect a woman's ability to breastfeed. Is Requip XL Safe for Breastfeeding Women?

It is not known if Requip® XL (ropinirole XL) passes through breast milk in humans. Because of the potentially serious side effects that could occur in the nursing infant, the manufacturer of Requip XL recommends that women not take the medication while breastfeeding.
