An Introduction to Procyclidine Side Effects
As with any medicine,
procyclidine hydrochloride (
Kemadrin®) may cause side effects. If side effects do occur, they are often minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Side Effects of Procyclidine
Some side effects with procyclidine are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. Although most of these serious side effects are rare, a few may be common, especially with a high
procyclidine dosage. These serious side effects of procyclidine include, but are not limited to:
- Severe constipation (which may be a sign of an intestinal blockage)
- A rapid heart rate (tachycardia)
- Confusion
- Fever, heatstroke, or decreased sweating
- Glaucoma (an eye condition)
- Hallucinations
- Depression
- Difficulty passing urine
- Signs of an allergic reaction, including:
- An unexplained rash
- Hives
- Itching
- Swelling of the mouth or throat
- Wheezing
- Difficulty breathing.
