Sinemet CR Drug Information

A long-acting Parkinson's disease drug, Sinemet® CR (carbidopa-levodopa CR) is designed to slowly release the medication over four to six hours. This slow release helps to prevent fluctuations in the level of carbidopa and levodopa in the blood. In addition to treating Parkinson's disease, Sinemet CR is approved to treat Parkinson-like symptoms due to manganese poisoning, carbon monoxide poisoning, or encephalitis (infection or inflammation of the brain).

Safety information on Sinemet CR should be reviewed with your healthcare provider prior to beginning treatment so that you are aware of all the risks. This includes possible side effects, such as hallucinations, involuntary movements, and nausea, and being aware of the drugs that can cause negative interactions.
