This drug comes in the form of a tablet and syrup (the generic version is also available as a capsule). It is usually taken by mouth once or twice a day. If your healthcare provider recommends amantadine hydrochloride, tell him or her if you have glaucoma, heart disease, congestive heart failure, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, as this may have an effect on his or her decision to prescribe it.
