Certain Antibiotics
Some antibiotics may affect the level of Comtan in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking such medications together.
 
Cholestyramine (Prevalite, Questran, Questran Light)
Cholestyramine may affect the level of Comtan in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Medications Metabolized By COMT
Comtan inhibits COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase), an enzyme that breaks down certain drugs. Comtan could significantly increase the level of such drugs in the body, possibly increasing the risk of dangerous side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before combining Comtan with such medications.
 
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Non-selective MAOIs (isocarboxazid, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine) should not be combined with Comtan. Selective MAOI-B inhibitors (selegiline and rasagiline) can be used with Comtan, although the risk of low blood pressure may be increased.
 
Probenecid
Probenecid may affect the level of Comtan in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
