Cogentin® (benztropine mesylate) is a medication used for treating the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and certain movement disorders (extrapyramidal symptoms) caused by antipsychotic medications. This prescription medication works by re-establishing a normal balance between certain chemicals of the nervous system (dopamine and acetylcholine). Cogentin is not suitable for everyone. Before taking Cogentin, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other health conditions you have and any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and supplements).

(Click Cogentin for more information on how Cogentin works, potential side effects that may occur, and what you should know before starting the medication.)
