Side Effects of Bromocriptine

Constipation, dizziness, and nausea are some of the most commonly reported side effects of bromocriptine. Although most side effects of the medication are minor, some are potentially serious and should be reported to a healthcare provider immediately. Some of these rare but serious bromocriptine side effects include high or low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, hallucinations, and vision changes.

An Introduction to Bromocriptine Side Effects

As with any medicine, bromocriptine mesylate (Cycloset, Parlodel®) may cause side effects. Yet, not everyone who takes bromocriptine will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it well. If side effects do occur, they are often minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Serious Side Effects With Bromocriptine

Some side effects with bromocriptine are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. Although most of these serious side effects are rare, a few may be common. These serious bromocriptine side effects include, but are not limited to:
 

 

    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing.
