Azilect Warnings and Precautions
Who Should Not Take Azilect?
You should not take Azilect if you:
- Are allergic to Azilect, rasagiline mesylate, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
- Are taking any of the drugs or foods that should not be combined with Azilect (see Azilect Drug Interactions and Azilect Food Interactions).
Previously, it was recommended that people undergoing elective surgery and people who have pheochromocytoma (a specific kind of adrenal tumor) should not take Azilect, but these restrictions have since been removed.
There are a number of situations in which Azilect should not be taken, as well as several precautions and warnings people should be aware of before starting the medication. However, it is possible that not all of the warnings or precautions were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your healthcare provider about the specific Azilect warnings and precautions that may apply to you.
