Azilect Drug Interactions

Entacapone (Comtan, Stalevo)
Combining entacapone and Azilect can lead to dangerous side effects. If your healthcare provider recommends that you take these medications together, you may need to be monitored more closely.
 
Levodopa (Parcopa, Sinemet, Sinemet CR, Stalevo)
Azilect is approved for use in combination with levodopa. However, many people who take these medications together will need to have their levodopa dosage reduced, due to increased levodopa side effects.
 
Lidocaine
Lidocaine can increase the level of Azilect in your blood. A lower Azilect dosage (0.5 mg once daily instead of the usual 1 mg once daily) may be recommended.
 
Meperidine (Demerol)
You should not take meperidine while taking Azilect (or even if you have taken Azilect within the past 14 days), due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
 
Methoxsalen (8-MOP, Oxsoralen, Oxsoralen-Ultra, Uvadex)
Methoxsalen can increase the level of Azilect in your blood. A lower Azilect dosage (0.5 mg once daily instead of the usual 1 mg once daily) may be recommended.
 
Mexiletine (Mexitil)
Mexiletine can increase the level of Azilect in your blood. A lower Azilect dosage (0.5 mg once daily instead of the usual 1 mg once daily) may be recommended.
 
Miscellaneous Antidepressants
You should not take certain antidepressants while taking Azilect (or even if you have taken Azilect within the past 14 days), due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
  
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Taking Azilect with other MAOIs can increase your chance of developing dangerous side effects. Do not take Azilect and other MAOIs within two weeks of each other.
