How Should Apokyn Be Stored?
It should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep Apokyn and all other medications out of the reach of children. Once you have started using an Apokyn cartridge, it must be used up or thrown away within seven days.
Apokyn is available in one strength -- Apokyn 3 mL multi-dose cartridges, containing 10 mg of Apokyn per mL. In order to inject it, you will need an Apokyn injection pen (which is reusable, so don't throw it away) and pen needles (which are used only one time each). Although the pen needles can be purchased at most pharmacies, Apokyn (and the Apokyn pen) must be purchased through certain "specialty pharmacies." There are currently only two specialty pharmacies that provide Apokyn (your healthcare provider will help you obtain Apokyn through one of these pharmacies).
